Animal & Export Health Certificates for Pet Travel

When your pet travels overseas they will need documents showing they are healthy and safe to travel.

How can it help?

Travelling with your pet requires a lot of extra paperwork because requirements for entry are specific to each country. Government websites will provide lists of requirements for what you need, and what forms need to be completed. It is always the exporter’s/your responsibility to make sure the paperwork is correct so take the time to do your research.

In addition to the formal documentation, travelling abroad can expose your pet to new diseases and parasites. We can advise you on potential risks to your pet to help you minimise the threats when you are visiting exciting locations.

It is essential that everything is discussed and understood before embarking on a journey. If there are any problems with the travelling documentation, it may result in you being refused entry with your pet, fined, or required to pay additional fees.

Animal Health Certificate & Travelling FAQs

HOW LONG DOES THE APPOINTMENT TAKE?

An export appointment itself typically takes 30 minutes for European travel. However, depending on where you wish to travel and what extra research needs to be undertaken, it may be up to 60 minutes.

DO YOU OFFER SAME DAY ANIMAL HEALTH CERTIFICATES?

Yes we do, for an additional fee. Please contact the practice for further information on pricing.

HOW MANY VISITS ARE REQUIRED?

Travelling to Europe currently requires at least 2 visits - a rabies vaccination, and a visit for an Animal Health Certificate 10 days prior to travel. Other destinations may require more tests or vaccinations and so should be planned well in advance.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

This is dependent on the testing and vaccination requirements of the country of destination.
